About

Hi, I’m Berke Chein.

I bake sourdough, learn Torah, and try to live life with intention, a little more awake each day. Lechem Chein grew out of that rhythm. A mix of physical and spiritual practice, shaped by what rises slowly and speaks when it’s ready.

I didn’t always feel connected to learning. Or to sharing myself. That came recently. Slowly. Like dough that needed time. These days, writing helps me listen in and say what matters, even when I’m still figuring it out.

At first, I wrote just to process what I was learning or living through. But over time, I realized: when something’s real, it resonates. Torah isn’t just ancient. It’s alive. And it’s for everybody. Sometimes the lens I’m looking through can help someone else see something more clearly, too.

Sometimes it’s a Dvar Torah. Sometimes a reflection. Sometimes just something I needed to say out loud before it went stale in the back of the fridge. I don’t post every week, just when it feels alive.

Some weeks, I bake extra sourdough. Not to sell, just to give. I usually share it with family, friends, and sometimes a new friend. If you’re nearby (Baltimore), feel free to reach out, no promises, but I’ll share when I can.

A bit of bread. A bit of Torah. A little something to carry with you.
Thanks for being here. I’m glad you found your way to this corner of the table.
